TWELVE COFFEE ROASTERY - KORONADAL BRANCH
Setting a new visual benchmark for Twelve Coffee Roastery Koronadal
Bad Practice turns a former Koronadal bank into a
color-blocked key cafe for Twelve Coffee Roastery
BAD Practice was commissioned to direct the comprehensive brand refresh and interior language evolution for Twelve Coffee Roastery’s flagship presence in Koronadal, South Cotabato. As the roastery expands across key regions in Mindanao, this phase marks a critical transition: elevating Twelve Coffee Roastery from a local cafe, into a distinct visual brand identity rooted in minimalism with depth and atmospheric spatial design.
Originally a bank, the renovation was strictly pragmatic. We avoided a costly gut-rehab, keeping the main utility areas, floor tiles, and area nooks to cut expenses.
To break up the wide footprint without structural work, we zoned the floor plan into five areas using distinct colors and finishes, giving each section its own presence, serving different types of customers/users, and probable length of stay.
The interior direction translates existing brand into an atmospheric, color-blocked environmental design. Moving away from its existing standard coffee shop’s white & black visual language, the Koronadal space introduces standardized depth, tone, and texture to create an architectural anchor.

The interior relies on color blocking is designed around perspective, mapping customer sightlines from every vantage point.
To keep construction economical, we prioritized plain block paint colors over higher end finishes. We let the palette do the visual work.
Different lighting techniques (precise pin lights to ambient washes) bring these flat surfaces to life. Each zone is visually sliced from the next through distincy paint transitions.
Our visual method for this project is to make every section feel cleanly cut from the rest of the space.

Bad Practice designed Twelve Coffee Roastery’s first truly cohesive cafe, aligning spatial design with their core mission: goo local coffee, good food, and great time.
We skipped the hyper-graphic, noisy look typical of most mid-market cafes in favor of a clean visual system. The result aims restraint and careful execution.
This gives the local brand a polished, elevated presence while keeping the space approachable and fairly priced.
